NICK GALEA (THE MET, BDO, SUMMAFIELDDAYZE, FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL, STEREOSONIC)
With his renowned thumping bass lines and melodic hooks comes Brisbane’s premier OneLove artist, namely, Nick Galea. Triumphant as ever after yet another successful musical year that included various remixes (“Breathe”, “Show Me Love” and “Junkyard” “Bad Girl (At Night)”) and original tracks (“The Little Things”) featuring on the ARIA Club Chart and both Ministry of Sound and OneLove compilations in ’08, Galea is today smiling at the progress that his career has made recently. Here and now, Galea is arguably Queensland’s MVP in his home city’s ever-present quest for club land supremacy, a claim that is merely highlighted by his revered residency at Brisbane’s superior nightspot, The Met, and his phenomenal fifth position in the 2008 Sony InTheMix poll for Queensland’s best DJ & 21 Nationally. But, of course, for Nick Galea to be smiling alone wouldn’t be fair to the fans that have propelled him to these personally unprecedented heights. As such, ravers across the country have been given the special treat of witnessing his fun-loving DJ sets live. You name it, he’s been there, with Sydney, Cairns, Toowoomba, Surfers Paradise and Bundaberg, residents all now praying for the day that Galea returns with his traditionally epic DJ set that constantly sends the mind into a euphoric freefall. But let’s be clear on one thing, though, under the guise of the night is not the only time that the 25-year-old comes out to play. For those of you searching for proof to support that statement, look no further than the Big Day Out, SummaFieldDayze, Future Music and Global Gathering festivals where Galea was among the plethora of talented acts performing.
DJ ANDEE (THE MET, REGATTA HOTEL, PLANET NIGHTCLUB)

PETE SMITH (THE MET, SUMMAFIELDDAYZE, FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL, BBQ BEATS)
Pete Smith has traversed the eastern coast of Australia to accumulate an incredible wealth of experience in the music industry. With an understanding of the inner operations of and marketing in record labels from working at then music superstore Brash’s, Pete is especially at home in the radio booth having cut his teeth on radio stations from the age of 16; working his way up from Melbourne's HITZ FM through to WILD FM, river94.9 and finally the peak of Dance music's mecca of the airwaves, Ministry of Sound Radio. Currently Friday & Saturday resident of Queensland’s leading nightclub The Met, Pete also holds a fortnightly Wednesday residency at The Regatta, Mondays at Hotel LA and Thursdays as Alhambra. Pete has also held residencies in Queensland's R-Bar, The Chic Boutique and Embassy and performed in the main room of Family and Melbourne’s Metro. PAUL ISON (THE MET, THE REGATTA HOTEL, GODSKITCHEN)
Sydney-born entertainer Paul Ison has been an essential ingredient in the recent evolution of Australian dance culture over the past decade. Such is his dedication to dance music, 32-year-old Ison has held residencies over thirteen years in both Victoria and Queensland at famed locations such as The Met, Frankston Saloon, Exchange Hotel, 21st Century Nightclub and Juuce nightspot (to name a few). Blending his popular concoction of big room, electro and fidget in the DJ booth, Ison has supported and played alongside established stars such as TV Rock, John Course, Sgt. Slick, Grant Smilie, The Stafford Brothers, Hook N Sling, Freemasons, Nick Galea, TyDi, Hoxton Whores, Ajax and the list is only going to continue growing! By the end of 2009, Ison will have added global superstars such as BT, Inpetto, Judge Jules and Marco V to his resume after they each tour Australia for club gigs and the inaugural Trance Energy Australia festival (the latter) – where Ison’s scheduled to perform. Perhaps what is most astonishing about these triumphant achievements is that Ison, at the moment anyways, merely moonlights as a DJ. In a nine-to-five capacity, Ison holds the prestigious title of Entertainment and Marketing Manager at one of Brisbane’s trendiest nightlife venues in the renowned Regatta Hotel. An experienced business professional, Ison earned his apprenticeship in this field by working in the promotions field at Buzz Bar Nightclub, Kings Creek Hotel and Millennium Nightclub in Melbourne. In his current position, he’s in control of many exciting activities, with perhaps the most notable being university students undisputed favourite evening, that being Frat Club at Regatta. In addition, as a corporate suit, he’s the creator of Deckheads, the popular nightly entertainment brand which specialises in everything that has anything remotely to do with club land. Indeed, Paul Ison isn’t just a DJ, neither a Marketing Manager nor a business group creator. He’s all of the above and as many over the years have learnt, plenty, plenty more.
REEKAY GARCIA (THE MET, SUMMAFIELDDAYZE, BBQ BEATS, STEREOSONIC)
Some DJs work for years to gain a foothold in their home city, slowly building their reputation over time before gaining the credit they rightly deserve. Reekay Garcia is one of the lucky few whose DJ career has followed a different trajectory entirely, bursting onto the Brisbane club scene in a blaze of glory five years ago and remaining at the forefront ever since. Reekay’s rapid rise to prominence was due in no small part to the early work of his production ensemble Dope & Dusted. Comprised of Reekay, Patrick Brown and sax player Sharif D, their ‘Are U Jealous’ release on Ministry Of Sound’s local imprint Hussle Recordings had an immediate impact. After sitting in the Top Ten of the ARIA Dance Music Charts for three consecutive weeks, the track eventually found its way on to Ministry’s Sessions One compilation – an unprecedented achievement for a debut release from a Brisbane artist. They haven’t rested on their laurels from there either, with the follow-up Hussle release ‘Juicy Flashback’ scoring airplay on BBC Radio One from Soul Of Man and Fergie, and their latest track ‘Electric Guitar’ (in collaboration with local electro act Christopher Robin) being their most successful to date – global tastemaker Roger Sanchez aired it three times on his Release Yourself radio program, and it’s now licensed to appear on an Azuli Records compilation. These achievements would be more than enough for some producers, but Reekay has gone on to make a mark on Australian clubland in his own right. As a DJ he has the ability to mix between his signature Latin house sound, electro and breaks seemingly at will, a talent which has seen him become a staple booking at clubs and events across Brisbane – current residencies across Brisbane include new superclub The Met and GPO, while in the past he’s had lengthy stays behind the decks at Monastery, Sun Bar and The Moon Bar and well-received festival sets at Summafieldayze, Good Vibrations and BBQ Breaks. Not to mention trips down the East Coast to rock interstate clubbing institutions YU (Sydney), Tank (Sydney), Kink (Sydney) and C-Moog (Byron Bay). 2008 saw Reekay branching out from the house music sound he is best recognised for, dabbling in hip-hop and r’n’b production (most notably with Japanese/Australian vocalist Elesia) for the first time with unsurprisingly polished results. Their first single picked up by the channel 9 tv station and used in episode 11 of the tv show "the strip". But house music remains his first love with his first solo release being picked up in 2009 "back to the beat" by One love records. released in september and hitting the top ten of the aria charts, featuring MASSIVE mixes by Rivastarr & Lee Mortimer. Reekay Has also added his touch remixing, Mc Meego's P.A.R.T.Y, also out through One love and Australia's Kid kenobi's latest project "Bhanga". Whether crafting dancefloor bombs in the studio on his own, with his D&D brethren or dropping them on nightclubs across the country from the DJ booth, you just know that Reekay’s intimate knowledge of what makes a dancefloor explode will shine through
SCOTTY R (THE MET, FRAT CLUB (REGATTA HOTEL), HOTEL LA )
Scotty R has developed his musical and DJ techniques to a significant stance. Taking the flow and meters of electro's dirty basslines and thumping beats, he seamlessly blends them with trance's sinuous melodies and high frequencies to release an expressive set of pure music that has no barriers or type. Keeping true to the traditions of the old skool DJ and combining this with a contemporary edge that still remains fresh and progressive, Scotty R has emerged as the fundamental translator in Dance; transporting the dance floor into the ultimate reality of momentous beats that capture the body, heart, mind and soul. As the definitive beats ambassador, Scotty R will make you feel every beat, breakdown and tone; his music nourished by the energy of the crowd as the crowd is nurtured by the music channelled through the musical psyche of Scotty R. This is the path Scotty R travels - and this is the track he will always play. DJ Scotty R is also a part of SUPANOVAZ which is they are becoming fast known around Brisbane & internationally.
