Where to Party on the Gold Coast this Australia Day

Where to Party on the Gold Coast this Australia Day
on 04 January 2021 in Events & Entertainment

Every 26th January, Australians from all backgrounds gather together in celebration of the things we love and appreciate about Australia. From the land and sense of fair go to the lifestyle and democracy, and the enjoyment of freedom and people.

Australia Day is about celebrating the ever growing contributions made by each and every Australian in efforts to make the nation greater than yesterday.

Tune in to discover how to party like a true Australian on the Gold Coast this 2021 Australia Day.

The beach life

There are only a few things that distinctively sets Australians apart from others – our love for the beach life. We have plenty of amazing beaches in the Gold Coast to show for it.

And what better way to celebrate Australia Day the Aussie way? When it comes to living the life down under, we’re all about taking it easy and enjoying the beach life.

So for Australia Day this year, make it a point to head to one (or some) of the best beaches on the Gold Coast.

Surfers Paradise is a classic touristy beach that is nestled along the busiest stretch of the Gold Coast. A great set up for swimming with safety nets and lifeguards on watch, the beach offers plenty of fun for everyone. Check out the free beach volleyball nets, or explore the long stretch of soft white sands. Given how close the beach is to cafes and shopping hot spots, you’ll find plenty to do around here on Australia Day. The main downfall to heading to Surfers on Aussie Day is the big crowd you might have to bustle through.

If you’re looking for something more local with great beach vibes, head to Coolangatta beach at the southern end of the Gold Coast. Promising stunning landscapes and scenery that will be the envy of Instagram, the view here is astonishing. Families with small children or those looking for a gentle surf can head to Greenmount beach, which makes part of Coolangatta beach, as it is sheltered in a safe area.

Don’t forget to stash up on plenty of snacks and drinks when hanging out at the beach. A great local bottle shop is Cooly Liquor, which has three stores located across the Tweed region. They stock everything you need to have a great time at the beach, and you’ll find a wide range of local and imported beer, wine and spirits at the right price. For store details and opening times visit this page

BBQ at the beach

Don’t miss out on a good old fashion barbecue when you’re at Coolangatta beach. Follow the coastal walk from Coolangatta to Rainbow Bay where you’ll find a secluded barbecue and picnic spot that is perfectly positioned to watch the sunset of Surfers Paradise.

Again, you’ll want to make sure you bring along plenty of snacks and drinks for this Australia Day celebration, so be sure to pop into the Cooly Liquor Bottle Shop for an Aussie touch.

Kirra Hill Lookout

The slight effort to get to the top of the hill is worth it when you’re overlooking the views all the way from Surfers Paradise to Coolangatta. The 360 panoramic views of the Gold Coast skyline is magnificent, making this a hot spot, especially during sunset. The view isn’t obscured by trees or forestry, making it a great set up for photography.

Make Australia Day special this year and enjoy the best views of Australia on the Gold Coast at Kirra Hill Lookout. You’ll also find barbecue and picnic facilities available, albeit high in demand, so you’ll want to be there early to grab a spot.

Australia Day at the Coolangatta Hotel

Make the most of Aussie life by watching the waves of Coolangatta Beach roll in as you sit back, relax, and enjoy an ice cold beer listening to quality live entertainment.

The Cooly Hotel kickstarts a remarkable Australia Day celebration on Tuesday 26 January where free live entertainment starts at 3.30pm and 8pm, featuring Mark Sheila and The Fat Albert Band respectively.

Grab a taste of exclusive Australia Day cocktails, or enjoy the fresh, crisp beers on tap and extensive range of wines and spirits. The local crowd is fantastic, the live music is great, the food is brilliant, the customer service is exceptional and the ambience is magnificent.

With free entry for all, an Australia Day celebration at the Coolangatta Hotel is a must this 2021. Bookings are recommended as the place fills up quicker than selling hot cakes!
