on 02 November 2021 in General News

A family holiday on the Gold Coast offers many exciting activities, including surfing, wildlife sanctuaries and awesome theme parks. With 57 kilometres of beautiful coastline, you also get stunning views while exploring activities.

Perfect for animal lovers

For those who love animals, a visit to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is much needed. Take on this opportunity to feed the lorikeets and watch as swarms of birds flock in for a feed. Don’t forget to grab your cameras to snap an unforgettable moment. Grab a selfie with a koala, listen to the dingos howl, watch crocodiles get fed, experience a first class bird show, and simply explore the many other activities at hand. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary features the Treetop Challenge Adventure which includes thrills such as zip lining over crocodiles and over 80 different challenges to take on. There’s also a massive play area for kids that feature slides and rope challenges for them to explore.

Alternatively, head to Dreamworld for Tiger Island and the Corroboree experience. Here, you’ll get the chance to learn more about tigers as you watch these magnificent creatures show off their skills. Some amazing creatures include kangaroos which you can pet, tree wallabies, emus, a bald eagle, and so much more. Beyond animal love comes the fun rides and activities including the much anticipated Steel Taipan for the older kids to get their adrenaline pumping, high velocity drops, vintage car rides, and more.

Check out the sea creatures

If you’re more of a marine life lover, a visit to Sea World is a must. With spectacular exhibits of penguins, stingrays, polar bears, sharks, jellyfish, and more, it’s easy to spend a whole day here with the kids. You can even take their experiences one step further and immerse them with a hands-on experience with a seal or a dolphin and learn about these magnificent creatures up close and personal.

The great thing about Sea World is that it isn’t restricted to just animals, but also a whole ton of fun and adventure. With a splash zone for kids in the summer to pirate ship rides and an adventure zone up high in the sky, you won’t want to miss out on all the fun.

Head to the beaches

If you’re keen to find out where the locals hang out, head to Coolangatta Beach. With calm waters that make it great for kids to swim and explore, the Cooly Beach is a popular hotspot for families in the Gold Coast. White soft sands await you with clear fresh water lapping up on the coastline. The views here are amazing as you take in the ocean’s breeze.

You’re also not far from the world class surf breaks including Kirra and Snapper Rocks for more experienced surfers.

When at Cooly Beach, be sure to check out the Kirra Hill Lookout which offers spectacular views of Coolangatta Beach, Kirra Beach and the Surfers Paradise skyline. Spoil yourself with magnificent sunset views over the ocean knowing that your kids can easily burn their energy while they wait for dusk at the Queen Elizabeth park next to it.

Don’t miss out on a local dining experience at the Coolangatta Hotel which is right opposite the beach. Featuring one of the best live entertainment on the Coast, there’s always something to enjoy at the Cooly Hotel.

An iconic establishment for locals and travellers, you gain the best experiences from a casual beer garden to a proper sit down restaurant. The meals are exceptional, with classic Aussie pub favourites made by professional chefs to premium steaks, fresh seafood and mouth watering pizzas, a dining experience at the Cooly Hotel will not leave you disappointed. With fresh beer on tap followed by a wide array of drinks from local, national and international territories, you’ll find it easy to pair a drink beautifully with your meal.

Check out the infamous Surfers Paradise

If you’re looking to be super touristy and be able to check this off your bucket list, then head to Surfers Paradise.

The most popular tourist strip is popular for good reason. With tons of shops and eateries lining up street by street, the area comes to life when the sun goes down and is filled with plenty of clubs and bars that go onto the wee hours of the morning.

When it comes to day entertainment, there’s plenty of shopping to do from clothes to accessories and more. There’s also the infamous Surfers Paradise beach to enjoy with the family as well as the tucked away Time Zone or shooting range right opposite it for hours of endless fun. You’ll also find  Ripley’s Believe it or Not along the strip which features some incredible fun facts and exhibits, as well as the possibility of chancing upon a busker on the street.

For a unique activity at Surfers Paradise, head to Infinity which presents an exciting thrill for the whole family filled with neon lights, exciting music, a bunch of textures to explore and many challenges to accomplish.
