To celebrate Brazilian Music Day, we’re bringing you one of Brazil’s biggest hip hop stars, Marcelo D2. The rapper, formerly a member of the hip hop collective Planet Hemp, has produced a number of classic albums since going solo in 1998. Using samba and bossa nova samples instead of funk and solo and incorporating influences from punk and jazz, Marcelo D2 is one of the finest and most unique hip hop artists you’ll ever hear. We’ve got some great special guests to back him up too.

There’s usually something going on around the Coolangatta Hotel, such as Beach Rugby on 12-14 October. The spectacular, fast-paced and exciting game is based on modified rules of Rugby Union, Rugby League and Touch Football, where men and women play five-a-side with up to five substitute players and run a beach arena of 30 metres in length. The sport is already popular in Brazil, Spain, France, Portugal and England and now it’s Australia’s turn to battle it out, right on Coolangatta Beach.

Once you’ve scored tickets for the above you can use your in between time to get ready for the gig. Set a budget for each event (so you can stick around even longer and book tickets for more bands) and plan your concert outfits.
